Fort Smith, Arkansas recently welcomed ScrippsNews columnist Sharon Randall to help celebrate the centennial of the Fort Smith Public Library.
Randall showered praises on the place I call home. She says she was charmed by its people even before seeing, “…the Arkansas River winding past the city like a silver ribbon.”
Life is worth living anyplace at all — but especially in a place of uncommon grace and hospitality, where neighbors are friends, libraries are valued and strangers are made to feel they have reached the Pearly Gates. I hope to go back again soon.
Reading such nice things about Fort Smith inspires us to celebrate who we are and what we have while we build what we need.
