Governor Beebe says he has released $2 million from his discretionary fund to help build a museum in Fort Smith chronicling the history of the U.S. Marshals Service.
Thanks to all the museum supporters who showed up at today’s announcement. It was great to see so many friendly faces who have lived this dream for many, many years.
The museum’s board of directors and staff have lots of work to do and much more money to raise. Today was yet another milestone. The speeches from Deputy USMS Director Beckwith, Rep. Tracy Pennartz, and Governor Beebe brought a tear or two to my eyes.
Once all the news stories are posted, I’ll add some snippets here.
