Erudite Redneck, B.S., B.S., M.A..
My crazy rednek Okie friend has a hilarious post on his site.
I’ve been listening to Max Lucado’s Facing Your Giants today while I had some windshield time. Max has a great sense of humor. He’s so good at communicating God’s grace, His mercy, and His love for us — no matter what stupid stuff we do.
So when I stopped by ER’s blog this evening, I laughed so hard I cried. God does love us, even though we’re a bunch of screw-ups. I think He looks more at the heart. ER has a heart of gold. He loves our Lord and clings to Him in a way that makes me want that same dependent relationship with Jesus I once had.
For some reason, my jaw and my brain lock up at the thought of saying, “Lord Jesus, I NEED You!” See? There, I said it. “Lord, I NEEEEEEED You. I’m not big enough, brave enough, or strong enough to tackle everything all by myself.”
I know I’m rambling a bit — I think the point is that God is here for us, whether we’re trying to stop cussin or whether we’re trying to start letting go and letting God.
Thank you Brother ER for a dose of perspective, laced with a reminder that God has a fabulous sense of humor.
🙂 Yer too kind.
