It’s Col. Kevin Wear, Commander of the 188th Fighter Wing (Arkansas Air National Guard). The Col. is about to climb out of the cockpit of his F-16 Falcon after a training mission. I snapped the shot sometime in mid- to late July or early August 2005 at Ebbing Air Guard Base.
The 188th is transitioning from F-16s to A-10 Thunderbolts.The unit trains at Razorback Range.
Ain’t nuthin like standing out over the range and watching a 4-ship of fast movers strafe and bomb targets. Even on a clear, blue day you can’t see em drop out of the sky to make their attack. If you feel the rocket thunder and the Gatling gun recycling, it means you ain’t dead. I’d hate to be a bad guy with the Flying Razorbacks lookin for me…
