Morgan Freeman’s Dream – Portraying a Fort Smith Hero

How cool does this get? During the last week in November, 2006, Morgan Freeman told Charlie Rose his life-long dream is to portray Bass Reeves in a film. Watch the clip to see who Mr. Freeman wants to direct, who he wants to do the soundtrack, and what’s holding him back.

Go exactly 20 minutes into the video streaming segment. You’ll love it. Five minutes of TV talk nation-wide. Morgan Freeman. Charlie Rose. Talkin’ Fort Smith’s past. Evoking pride in place. Check it out.

  1. Your blog indicates maybe you could help work up a treatment for a script. If you decide to give it a go, let me know and I’ll hook you up with some Bass Reeves experts. We have a few hanging around here in Fort Smith. 😉

  2. I have a story outline if someone with talent is interested. Tried to contact Freeman on his website as mentioned in the clip and it was returned with the information that they don’t accept unsolicited material.

  3. Interesting. We’re making some inquires about how we’d get in touch with Mr. Freeman directly to see if we could ask him to share what’s in his heart. Then maybe we could match up somebody who could do a script. Sooooo what are YOU thinkin? Let’s talk…
